Focus On Prayer
Environment; Pollution
(Ecology) - by Rosa Curry Prayer Team 12 - Psalm
105:43-45 - Rosa Curry

For He remembered His holy word to His servant
Abraham. And He led forth His people with joy; God created man in his own image,
in the image of God He created him; male and female he
created them. And good blessed them, and God said unto
them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the
earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of
the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moves upon the earth. And God saw
everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very
good. ”
I
praise God for all His goodness. As I stroll my dear 89-year-old mother
in her wheel chair on this beautiful late summer morning, I wonder what
my legacy for my grandchildren will be. Is my generation doing all that
can be done to assure those who come after us, a clean and safe
environment? God created a beautiful world in which to live.
Although there are still places where humankind has not changed,
influenced, improved or destroyed, we have changed much of the earth.
It is true that we are more aware today than we were decades ago as to
how to preserve our natural resources and lands. It can be said that
this concern is up to government and industry to address, but our duty
is to begin at home. Being informed as to the laws and regulations that
deal with the disposal of oil, cleaning fluids, lawn care chemicals, and
non-biodegradable items is a must. Using natural gas, electricity,
water and other natural resources wisely, will help assure their
preservation for future generations. Fire and safety awareness is a
must when we visit the parks and forests, and travel our highways.
It is also true that science has made many advances in living standards,
medicines, modern con-veniences, education, and entertainment. God did
say in Genesis to have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the
fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.
We must do this without destroying the land, or the quality of air and
water. The U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Depart-ment of Agriculture, states
that the extinction of single plant species may result in the
disappearance of up to thirty other plant and animal species.
“If I
speak with human tongues and angelic as well, but do not have love, I am
a noisy gong, a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and
with full knowledge, comprehend all mysteries, if I have faith great
enough to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1
Corinthians 13:1-3.
To love is
to decrease as He increases. To love is to preserve and pass along
God’s awesome beauty of the earth in the purest form possible

(This is
the eleventh in a series of Bulletin articles that will address the
twelve areas of prayer for which the Lord has requested that all in the
Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of Detroit intercede.
Those who are led to pray for this particular intention of "Ecology,"
please contact Rosa Curry, the writer of this article, at

praying for this topic.)
