Area of Prayer Focus

"Idolatry  - (False Beliefs - Relativism)”
by Jim Brodi
(Prayer Team  #9 -  Article 4 )

We are created in the image and likeness of God so why do  we continually try to form God into our image and likeness? In today’s world, we are taught that there is no absolute truth or morality, that we are the ‘authority’. and that we have the right to choose our own ‘truth’ and ‘morality’ vs. God Who is our absolute Authority, Truth and Morality. We are being conditioned to believe that whatever we choose to do in our life is ok because we decide what is right or wrong. We believe that we can make a choice, and whatever the choice is, even if it is contrary to God’s will, if it feels good for us it is ok to do it. This way of thinking is known as “relativism”.

Relativism is progressive in its nature and pulls us
away from God. “Anyone who is so ‘progressive’ as not to
remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God;
whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.”
(2 John 9) In a commentary in the devotional, One Bread, One Body, 11-12-10, we are told:

1. Learning the truth from the Church (see 1 Tm 3:15)
    and the Bible
2. Teaching the truth
3. Sharply (Ti 1:13), yet gently (2 Tm 2:25), correcting
    false teachers
4. Staying clear of false teachers (2 Tm 3:5-7) and the
influences of secular humanism
5. Suffering persecution for living and teaching the
    truth (see Sir 4:28)

“And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds
came and ate it up.” (Matthew13:4) In One Bread, One
Body, 7-21-10, we are told:

When we fight for the truth, we will both spread the faith
and keep from losing the faith.

“And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds
came and ate it up.” (Matthew13:4) In One Bread, One
Body, 7-21-10, we are told:

God's word is now submitted to our culture instead of our
culture to God's word. Modern culture becomes the new
“bible.” It determines which parts of the old Bible are
still relevant. The religion of secular humanism is then
established. Intellectual pride becomes the new morality,
sowing doubt, the new theology. Furthermore, the only
heresy is orthodoxy.

Bishop Sheen stated: “Truth is always the truth even if
no one accepts it or believes it and error is always error even
if everyone believes it.” This TRUTH is JESUS CHRIST
and all that He has taught. Do not choose the progressive
way of relativism but choose the Way, the Truth and the Life
– JESUS CHRIST.

(I have prepared a presentation, “New Age Movement – The Forbidden Fruit Revisited,” to share the elements of New Age and to help understand some of the lies against God’s truths and the potential difficulties that we can experience when we get involved in the various elements of the New Age. Please contact the DCCR office or Jim Brodi to schedule a presentation.)

(Those who are led to pray for this particular intention of “Idolatry,” please contact Jim Brodi at #586-739-3802 to join in praying with others for this topic.)

Now Word

NOW WORD

by Marge Montrief

There are times in my prayer life when the voice of God is just not clear to me!  I can ask and plead and beg, but no words come.  What am I to do?  I have hit a dry spell and just do not hear the voice of God.  My mind and heart are willing and open, but for some reason my mind and my heart are not hearing.  Has the Lord passed me by? Does He just not have anything to say to me?  Am I hurrying too much and don’t stop long enough to listen?

At times like this, the NOW Word is a great comfort.  These are words our Lord is speaking to all of us.  No matter what you have on your mind, there is always at least one line in the NOW Word that will bring you comfort and understanding in whatever situation is passing through your life.

Don’t read just one line each day.  Read through the entire NOW Word.  The Lord will call you to Him.  He will tell you who He will be for you.  He will promise to be faithful and always be with you.  He will give you little reminders of where the focus and the direction of your life should go.  Most of all, somewhere in those words, He will always tell you that you are loved.  No matter how you may have failed to meet your goals, He still wants you to know that He loves you just where you are.

Read the NOW Word every day.  This is what our God is saying to each and every one of us.  Listen and be lifted up by His words and direction.  How can we truly say we do not hear Him speaking to us?  He sends us a letter.  Read it again.
