Since the last article I wrote on abortion, in which
was shared the call to pray sacrificially, i.e. offering up daily
inconveniences and pain for an end to abortion, the Lord has deepened
the prayer and conversion process. During Lent the Lord said, “Pray as
I prayed on the cross: Father forgive them for they know not what they
do.” I struggled with this a little because I believe that these “evil
people” know just what they are doing and doing it anyway.
I obeyed and now when I pray I still
offer my daily trials but I add “Father forgive them for they know not
what they do. Immerse them in your ocean of mercy.” Then I name the
politicians, judges and leaders who work and vote against life. This
method has heightened my awareness of how much the Lord loves these
people and how much I need to be transformed in mind and heart.

James’ letter has much to say about this:
>
“For the judgment is
merciless to one who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over
judgment.” 2:13.
>
“ …everyone should be quick
to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, for the wrath of a man
does not accomplish the righteousness of God.” 1:19-20.
>
“With it (the tongue) we
bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings who
are made in the likeness of God.” 3:9 |
The Lord reminded me that evil will always
fight against the good, trying to destroy, cripple and weaken it so it
has no effect, but love is greater and more powerful than evil and love
will conquer evil overwhelmingly.
Brothers and sisters: Keep on praying,
fasting, sacrificing, writing letters, speaking the truth in love,
obeying the Spirit.
Lord,
transform your people so your Kingdom comes, your will is done on earth
as it is in heaven. |
